Terms of service

Last updated 27 July 2026

Sojourn Logbook is not yet released. This document is published ahead of launch so it can be reviewed, and so the app stores have something to point at. It takes effect when the app ships.

These terms govern your use of Sojourn Logbook (the "app") and sojourn-logbook.com (the "site"). By using either, you agree to them.

1. What Sojourn Logbook is

Sojourn Logbook is a personal flight-logging tool for pilots. It records flights, computes currency and flight-time limitation positions, and produces exports formatted for the requirements of various civil aviation authorities.

2. What Sojourn Logbook is not

Your record is your responsibility. For pilots, a logbook is a legal document and you are the person accountable for its accuracy and completeness. For cabin crew there is no equivalent personal record-keeping obligation — but the record you keep here is still yours, and its accuracy is still down to what you enter. Sojourn Logbook is a tool that helps you keep it. It is not a certifying authority, it does not verify your entries, and using it does not make your record compliant.

In particular:

  • Our authority export formats are our good-faith implementation of published regulations. Regulations change, are amended, and are sometimes interpreted differently by the authority in front of you. Verify any export against your own authority's current requirements before relying on it.
  • Currency, recency and flight-time-limitation figures are calculated from the data you enter. If your entries are incomplete or wrong, the figures will be wrong, and they carry no authority of their own. All such figures are indicative only — confirm them against your Operations Manual and your operator's scheme before relying on them. They are not legal advice.
  • Nothing in the app is legal, regulatory, medical or aeromedical advice, and nothing in it determines whether you are legal to operate a flight. That determination is yours and your operator's.
  • Where a format is presented as an experience summary rather than a statutory logbook page, that distinction is deliberate and is stated in the app.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, or older if your jurisdiction requires it for digital consent.

4. Your data

Your flight records are stored on your device, not on our servers. We cannot read them and we cannot recover them. You are responsible for keeping exports or device backups. See the privacy policy and privacy posture.

5. Subscriptions and billing

  • Paid plans are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not process your payment details.
  • Your subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings — deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled under the policy of the store you bought through.
  • Prices shown before launch are intended launch prices and may change before release. Any change to the price of an existing subscription will be notified in advance as the stores require.

Starter Pro

Starter Pro is offered free and without a card. For pilots it runs for the whole of your training; for cabin crew it runs for one year from sign-up, covering initial training and the first months on the line. We may ask for reasonable evidence of training or employment status.

We may withdraw or change Starter Pro for future users, but we will not silently convert an existing Starter Pro account into a paid one. When your free period ends we will tell you before anything is charged, and your record remains yours to export whether or not you continue.

Tax Bundle

The Tax Bundle is a single subscription granting access to both Sojourn Logbook and Sojourn Tax Pro. Cancelling it ends access to both. Sojourn Tax is governed by its own terms at sojourn.tax.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the app or site to break the law, to falsify a flight record for submission to an authority or employer, to attack or overload our services, or to reverse-engineer them except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable where you live.

7. Intellectual property

The app, the site, and their content are ours or our licensors'. Your flight data is yours — we claim no rights over it, which is straightforward given we never receive it.

8. Availability

We aim to keep things working but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the app entirely, we will give reasonable notice and ensure you can export your complete record first.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app and site are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only so far as the law permits.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, licence privileges, employment or profits, arising from your use of the app or site. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time and delete it. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms. Export your record first — we cannot provide a copy afterwards.

12. Apple

If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and no warranty obligation with respect to the app. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be brought before the competent courts of the United Arab Emirates, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that may give you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the European Commission's online dispute-resolution platform is available to you.
