Tax Bundle In development

Your logbook already holds
part of the answer.

The sectors in your logbook help decide your tax residency — though they are never the whole story, which is exactly why the two apps are worth having together. One subscription, and nothing leaves your phone.

The overlap

Two records that partly overlap

A professional pilot living outside their home country keeps two separate records built from overlapping — but not identical — events: a logbook of sectors flown, and a count of days in each jurisdiction.

Sojourn Tax already runs the residency side — day counts, treaty tie-breakers, threshold alerts. What it has never had is a dependable source for your duty travel.

Logbook is that source. And because both apps sit on your device, the hand-off never touches a server.

What crosses, and what does not

A deliberately narrow pipe

Crosses: the sector — date, departure and arrival aerodrome, and times.

Never crosses: any licence data at all. No command times, no endorsements, no instructor names, no currency status, no medical dates.

Tax has no use for your command time, so it is never offered it. The scope is narrow on purpose — a pipe that only carries what is needed cannot leak what is not.

A logbook cannot tell you where you were — only where you flew. Leave trips, a holiday flown as a passenger, deadheading on someone else’s ticket, a train or a drive across a border: none of it reaches a logbook, and all of it counts toward residency.

So Logbook helps decide your position rather than settling it. Sojourn Tax keeps its own on-device arrival detection running for exactly that reason — it catches non-duty movement a logbook never sees, while Logbook supplies the precise record of duty flights, both directions, to the minute in Zulu.

Neither is switched off for bundle users, and where the two agree the result is better than either alone: a stay corroborated by both on-device detection and a flight number is stronger evidence than one backed by a single source — and the export can say so.

How the sync behaves

Nothing is written without you

1

Tax asks. Logbook answers.

The sync is initiated by Tax and served by Logbook. Logbook never pushes into your tax record on its own.

2

You granted it, and you can revoke it

Consent is explicit and specific to this hand-off. Withdraw it and the pipe closes.

3

It lands as a review, never a write

Imported legs arrive as a review session you approve. Your residency record — the thing that decides your tax position — is never changed behind your back.

Pilots backfill flights late, so the sync tracks what has changed rather than what is recent. Edit a sector from three months ago and the correction still reaches your residency clock. You choose weekly, monthly or manual.
