Corrections
Corrections may only be made by striking through. No overwriting, no erasing, no relabelling — so any printed export must show an amendment trail rather than a silently edited value. (CAR 61.29)
Retention
Retained permanently; twelve months if the licence is revoked. (CAR 61.29)

Is New Zealand’s 25 NM cross-country rule the same as the FAA’s 50 NM?
No — and the difference is not only the number. New Zealand measures over 25 NM straight-line from the departure aerodrome; the FAA measures to the point of landing. Two flights can qualify under one rule and not the other even at the same distance.
Can a New Zealand logbook entry be corrected?
Only by striking through. Overwriting, erasing or relabelling is not permitted, which is why an export has to show the amendment trail rather than presenting a corrected value as though it had always been there.
